L.A. District Attorney’s Office Reviewing Sex Crimes Case Against Sylvester Stallone

Police recently sent the case to a special entertainment task force in the Los Angeles County DA's office that investigates sex crime allegations in the entertainment industry, spokesperson Greg Risling told CNN. Details of the case were not released. Police officials said a 50-year old actress filed a report claiming the actor assaulted her in the 1990s at his Santa Monica office.

At that time, Stallone's attorney said he "categorically disputes the claim".

California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill in 2016 that lifted the previous statute of limitations of 10 years for crimes committed after January 1, 2017-or for crimes in which the statute of limitations hadn't expired by that date.

The case was presented by the Santa Monica Police Department, according to KABC.

The first involves the rape allegation from 1990, and a source close to the investigation said that this is the case being reviewed by prosecutors.

Stallone through his lawyer has publicly denied previous media reports about the allegation. Media reports from a year ago, however, outline at least two alleged incidents of sexual assault from his past.

Making his name in the 1970s in boxing film Rocky, Stallone went on to become one of Hollywood's biggest action stars thanks to the Rocky and Rambo film franchises.

"It wasn't until after the #MeToo movement began making headlines past year - following the Harvey Weinstein scandal - that she surfaced with the allegations", Singer said. He will reprise his role as Rocky Balboa in "Creed 2", November 21.

"We got a complaint that was made in November of alleged sexual misconduct in the 1990s", SMPD spokesman Saul Rodriguez told Reuters.
