grubb [11:24 AM] EA brings cloud gaming and day-one games to its subscription service

PC owners will be able to subscribe to Origin Access Premier. This shares similar offerings to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass, which provides access to over 100 titles and all future first-party releases on Xbox One.

Origin Access is EA's subscription service for PC users akin to its Xbox service, EA Access.

EA has announced a new streaming subscription service for its games.

"Millions of players have experienced the fun of playing more games through our subscription programs, and today we're taking another groundbreaking step with Origin Access Premier", said Electronic Arts" Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson.

EA shared few details on the service and its capabilities, though hopes to distribute all "new PC games" through the service going forward. In Origin Access Premier, this does not apply.

The standard edition of Madden 19 is set be released on August 10, but those who pre-order the Hall-of-Fame edition with Owens on the cover will be able to get the game early on August 7.

What's that mean? Origin Access Premier subscribers will get access to Madden NFL 19, which is making its PC comeback, as well as Federation Internationale de Football Association 19, Battlefield V, and Anthem when they come out. It costs $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year. They will also get access to over 100 older games, like "Need For Speed Payback", Mad Max", and the "Batman: "Arkham" series, along with a 10% discount on Origin purchases.

More games are added over time.

"You never rule out getting you game in front of players. you want to go where everyone is". It also features an attempt to broaden their reach by announcing a subscription platform for other studios and publishers that may not want to foot the bill for maintaining a subscription service like this.
