A stunt featuring a scantily clad woman riding bareback on a white horse has prompted officials to shut down a nightclub in the U.S. state of Florida.

"Miami Dade PD's animal experts have located the horse that was at Mokai", Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said in a statement. The horse then dips, the woman falls off and the horse bucks and walks off. People in the video are heard gasping and then cheering. He said the incident constitutes animal abuse, and that the club "should be stripped of their license to operate".

Meanwhile, Miami Beach Police tweeted that it has been "made aware" of the incident. The man pulls the scared horse out of the club.

" We are very concerned over the allegations", police said, indicating that a joint police and code enforcement investigation was taking place.

Mokai Lounge's license is now revoked and the owners could face criminal charges.

'They brought a real horse in the club! "I$3 hope you get penalized severely for what you put that poor animal through", another user wrote. I hate it so much. how could anyone do that???'

The order issued to the nightclub, Mokai Lounge, says the horse was paraded around the venue sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Back in Studio 54's heyday, Bianca Jagger rode a similar looking horse inside the wild NYC club in May 1977 for her birthday celebration.

"It was a handsome white horse that reminded me of mine", she wrote in a 2015 letter to the Financial Times, "and I made the foolish decision to get on it for a few minutes ..."
