French Prez participates in prog at Bikaner House

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received French President Emmanuel Macron at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport here on Monday.

Accompanied by his wife Brigitte Marie-Claude, Macron arrived in India on Friday night and was greeted by Modi at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

After a brief break, the duo will fly in a chopper to Dadarkalan in Mirzapur where Macron will inaugurate a 75 MW solar plant built by French firm Engie Solar. Both the leaders will attend multiple events in Varanasi. They will also visit the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul in Bada Lalpur, a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts, and hold an interaction with artisans and view a live demonstration of their crafts.

Before flying back to Varanasi from Mirzapur, Modi and Macron are scheduled to take a boat ride from Assi to Dashaswamedh Ghat. Assi Ghat is the place where Prime Minister Modi officially began the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan" campaign in 2014.

The UN Environment Chief Erik Solheim praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and France President Emmanuel Macron in a tweet for initiating the ISA.

On a four-day visit to India, the French President had on Sunday visited the Taj Mahal in Agra.

Modi will also launch several development projects and address a public meeting at DLW Grounds in Varanasi, the report said.

"India and France have chose to work together to deal with threats of terrorism and radicalisation", Macron had said after his meeting with Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to receive Macron who will be given the feel of the mystical ghats of Varanasi. Prime Minister Modi had visited France in June previous year.
