Aldon Smith Turns Himself In, Jailed On $30000 Bond

The Oakland Raiders released linebacker Aldon Smith amid an investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident

Aldon Smith reportedly checks into rehab after being accused of domestic violence

On Monday, it was reported that there was a warrant out for Smith's arrest following an alleged domestic violence incident.

Smith faces misdemeanor charges of willful infliction of corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily harm, false imprisonment and vandalism, police said.

Smith's fiancee, Shawna McKnight, told TMZ Sports he checked himself into rehab after the alleged domestic violence incident occurred.

He is scheduled for arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on Monday. She also said he had been drinking heavily and that the former Raiders linebacker called her parents to take him to rehab.

Smith's fiancee and those close to him have expressed concern that he won't be alive much longer if he continues with his addiction and doesn't get help.

I wish the best for Aldon. He was arrested in 2012 and 2013 on suspicion of DUI. She reported to a police dispatcher about 8:30 p.m. that Smith was beating her at her residence in the 600 block of Bush Street.

"I'm anxious about him", said a source close to Smith, according to TMZ Sports.

A first-round pick out of Missouri in 2011, Smith had repeated off-field issues with the San Francisco 49ers and was signed by the Oakland Raiders. San Francisco then released him in August 2015 after another drunken driving charge - his fifth arrest in three years. The 28-year-old's application to the National Football League commissioner for reinstatement was initially denied in 2016 and is still pending.

Meanwhile, more details of Smith's troubled life are emerging, and they portray a life so out of control that at least one source is hoping this is rock bottom for the one-time Pro Bowl pass rusher for the 49ers and Raiders.
